The Lawler City Council met in regular session on September 5, 2017 at 7:00 PM.
Mayor Mueterthies presided.
Council members present: Izer, Scheidel, Throndson and King.
Others present: Jay Uhlenhake, Frank Wilson, Bonnie Kuehner, Verna Orvis
Moved by Izer, seconded by Throndson to approve the Agenda with the following addition:
- Paul Rosenbaum – pavement of road

Moved by Scheidel seconded by Izer to approve the previous minutes with one change – Jeremy Scheidel is not up for re-election – and current bills to be paid as presented. All Ayes

Bonnie Kuehner, Verna Orvis and Frank Wilson explained information regarding a Community Visioning application for the Crane Creek Trail pond area. The trail committee could receive up to $80,000.00. Verna Orvis is filling out the application. The trail committee will need a $2,000.00 fee from the organization. The Crane Creek Trail Committee will provide the fee. The trail committee will need community volunteers to help with this project. A city representative is also needed. John Izer volunteered to be on the committee. If you would like to be on the committee contact Verna Orvis or Bonnie Kuehner.
Motion was made by King to approve the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning application for the Crane Creek Trail. Seconded by Scheidel. All Ayes
Moved by Izer and seconded by Scheidel to approve Bucky’s Liquor license. All ayes.
The annual Street Finance Report was reviewed. Moved by Scheidel and second by King to approve the Street Finance Report. All Ayes.
There were two bids to rent the Farm Land for 4 years. The highest bid was John Brincks for $4,000.00. A motion by King to contract with John Brincks for 4 years. Seconded by Throndson. All Ayes.
Vacating the alley north of West Main Street in Lawler was discussed. A motion by King to send letters to the three land owners it will affect, Tom Lensing, Dave Njus and Toni Currans. If Tom Lensing is interested in retaining the full portion of the alley, he will be responsible for any surveying and lawyer fees. He will pay the city $2.00. If Toni Currans and Dave Njus are interested in retaining their position of the ½ the alley they will be responsible for any surveying and lawyer fees. Also they will pay the City of Lawler $1.00. Seconded by Izer. All Ayes.
There will be a community gathering September 10, 2017 at the park for the new trail and playground equipment to say thank you for community help.
Road pavement of North East Street was discussed. Motion made by King since the road is in fair enough condition the council will readdress this next Spring/Summer. Seconded by Izer. All Ayes.
The next meeting will be October 2, 2017 at 7:00pm.
Moved by King and Seconded by Scheidel to adjourn at 8:40pm. All Ayes
