Jendro Sanitation will be closed on Monday, July 4th, 2022 for Independence Day.

 

ALL ROUTES WILL BE COLLECTED

1 DAY LATE THE WEEK OF JULY 4TH.

(Monday, July 4th routes will be collected on Tuesday, July 5th and so on through the week, with Friday, July 8th routes being collected on Saturday, July 9th.)

THIS CHANGE IS FOR ALL TRASH & RECYCLING ROUTES FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 4TH.

 

Please have all material out for collection by 5:00 am to ensure pick up.

May 2022 City Council Meeting Minutes

The Lawler City Council met in regular session on May 2, 2022 at 7:00 PM.

Mayor Mark Mueterthies presided.

Council members present:   King, Scheidel, Izer, Kuehner, Croell

Others present:  Jay Uhlenhake, Cathy Humpal, Stephanie Tangen, Jason Byrne, Samantha Njus and Sherry Olendick

Motion made by King to approve the Agenda

Second by Izer.   All Ayes.  Motion passed.

Motion made by Scheidel to approve the previous minutes and current bills to be paid.

Second by Croell.   All Ayes.  Motion passed.

Samantha Njus discussed the nuisance letter she had received and she has been cleaning up.  The council stated they were happy she let the council know of her progress.  There is no time line.  Please keep in contact with mayor or council.

Sherrie Olendick  asked who she could she call to help with the mess behind Dave Iverson’s house.  The council recommended Roger Dreckman or Gene Blazek and ask if they could help.

Stephanie Tangen and Cathy Humpal disputed here nuisance letter stating she does not have a broken window and her fence is for her dog, so it does not run throughout the neighborhood. Izer offered his help with an appliance in her yard or can call John Emery from Waucoma to pick up appliance for free.

Suzette showed the council the Nuisance Ordinance in the Ordinance book.  She said it is recommended the city take pictures of any nuisances in the town and send a letter, copy of picture and copy of Ordinance to residents in question and speak with city attorney.

Motion made by Croell to send second letter, photo and copy of Ordinance to residents who have not fixed their nuisance.  Second by Kuehner.

Motion made by King to open Public Hearing to approve Budget Amendment for Budget FY21-22, Resolution No.  2022-05022022. Second by Izer.

Ayes:  King, Izer, Kuehner, Croell and Scheidel

Nayes: None

Motion passed.

The council reviewed Budget Amendment for Budget FY21-22 for approval.  No questions were asked.

Motion by Croell to close public hearing.  Second by Scheidel.

Motion made by Croell to approve to Budget Amendment for Budget FY21-22, Resolution No.  2022-05022022. Second by King.

Suzette explained to the council she forward Mienergy invoices to Jeff Gorrie with IAMU to review to assist with new electric bids.

Suzette let the council know we can now use the ARPA(covid) funds for street repairs.  We have only received half of the money, a have until 2024 to spend the money.

The shingles on the concession stand at the Junko Park have been blown off.

Motion made by Croell to replace with tin roof.  Second by King.

John Izer informed the council about RAGBRAI.  He has 35 porta potty lined up for RAGBRAI.  Jay will be call for Tripoli for 10 more and handwashing stations.

RAGBRAI will be here May 11th to walk through.  The city will be notifying residents which roads will by one way only and road closures during RAGBRAI, July 29, 2022

 

Delinquents were discussed.

Next meeting will be June 6, 2022.

Lawler Residents Reminder Spring Cleanup

REMINDER: Spring Cleanup starts May 6th – May 9th!!! Jendro will put 2 larges dumpsters on Depot Street by the grain bins. Time to clean up any junk you have!!!

 

Items NOT ACCEPTED: appliances, televisions, computer monitors, tires, yard waste, hazardous materials (paints, oils, etc.) corrugated cardboard

The Lawler RABRAI Committee is planning to have a Lawler Community Meeting on

May 1, 2022 at 6:00pm at City Hall

The Lawler RAGRAI Committee will need volunteers!!

Please come on board to work with social media to help get the word out.  We would need help with Ideas and any thoughts. 

Would any local organizations (Lions Club, Irish Fest, Turkey Valley Boosters, Lawler Little League, Lawler Park Committee, etc.) be willing to serve food or drinks to raise money.

Help cleaning up during RAGBRAI!
